Corn Starch Dough

Well it appears we are on a snow man theme! Yesterday we whipped up a batch of cornstarch dough and used it to make the most adorable snowmen you have have ever seen! This dough is simple! Although this recipe requires cooking, it only takes about 5 minutes.

In a small sauce pan mix 1/3 cup baking soda, and 2/3 cup salt in with1/3 cup water and bring it to a boil. Next take a small bowl and combine 1/2 cup cornstarch with 1/4 cup water. After the salt mixture has reached a boil remove it from heat and add it to the cornstarch mixture. Stir it up (it will take a couple of minutes) and let it cool, then you are ready to play!

I gave the kids beads, scraps of fabric and these adorable little hats that I found in the doll section of Hobby Lobby. The girls had so much fun creating their little snow men. The soft dough was so pliable and easy to work with!

Some other ideas of objects to add to the dough might be, toothpicks, feathers, leaves, pipe cleaners, buttons, metal washers, corn kernels or beans.

This is the first time we have ever used this recipe but if you have any questions about it feel free to ask.

I am really sorry about the word verification. I have been getting TONS of spam and this is the only way I can get a handle on it. I do love to hear what you have to say and hope that you will still take the time to comment. Thank you.
